Most people have in their mind’s eye what the perfect great British pub should be. It’s probably a combination of all the usual things people love about their favourite pubs. Great beer, great food, great atmosphere with warm, comfortable and friendly surroundings and in the winter, the aroma of a real log burning fire. All these things suggest the spirit of the classic British pub.
The Victory was opened in November 2016 by Emma Lacy and Chef Mark Keenan, and this is what they strive to create, and they want to create something genuine too. In short, they want to take everything that makes The Victory a great British food pub and build upon it.
The Victory is housed in an 18th century pub in the heart of Walton on Naze. You will find we have a passion for fresh food, using seasonal and locally-sourced produce, freshly prepared and cooked to order, our lunch and dinner menus are available in both the dining room and bar areas. Our food style is strong and bold, with an emphasis on simplicity and service being professional but approachable. Pair this with our fully stocked bar, boasting a range of quality award winning cask ales, lagers, ciders, stout and bottled beers to a fine selection of wines and top brand spirits.
Emma and Mark believe that they have a great pub with its low ceilings with period beams and narrow building combine to produce a wonderful charm and character, where you just happen to get served delicious food. We are a pub first and foremost, so although there are tables in the dining room available for bookings, there’s also two bar areas for drinkers with tables which are available to book to dine but otherwise it’s on a first come, first served basis. And that’s how we like it, and it seems it’s how our customers like it too.
